About the 2nd Chair
Experience as a Second Chair Pastor and an Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry has taught me that the ministry mindset and preparation of a Second Chair Pastor and Leader are different from that of a Senior Pastor. There are other writers and leaders addressing this vital area of ministry, but not very many.
If you are a Subordinate Pastor or Leader, this blog is just for you. It is my hope and prayer that this monthly blog will serve be a developmental tool and a source of encouragement for all Subordinate Pastors and Leaders. May your hands be lifted in the same manner you lift the hands of your Senior Pastor
Book
The Vase That Holds the Rose:
A Biblical Examination of the Ministry of the Subordinate Pastor and Leader
…
Over the years, the ministry of the Subordinate Pastor has often been overlooked and taken for granted. For some, the ministry of an Assistant Pastor is merely that of an apprentice; a steppingstone to the “higher calling” of a Senior Pastor. Yet, the scriptures indicate that the ministry of an Assistant is a “higher calling” in itself. If you are a Subordinate Pastor or Leader, know that you are not an afterthought in God’s Kingdom work. This study of Old and New Testament Subordinate Leaders is meant to validate the importance of your calling as well as offering a biblically based study that can better add to the preparation of your calling.
